The actual Rotary Club Challenge Coin Protocol will vary between Rotary Clubs. A typical Challenge Coin Protocol is:
- Each Rotarian receives a Rotary Club Challenge Coin. Additional Challenge Coins cost $10.00. The coins will therefore pay for themselves.
- Rotary Club Members are encouraged to carry their Rotary Club Challenge Coin at all times.
- A Rotary Club Member may challenge another Club Member with their coin at any time. If the challenged Club Member does not havbe their Rotary Club Challenge Coin when challenged, they may either:
- Pay a $5.00 fine at the next Club Meeting
- Buy the challenging Club Member a drink (if appropriate)
- In order to encourage Club Members to adopt and participate in this activity, the Club Member making the challenge will not face any penalty for issuying the challenge to another Club Member if the challenged Club Member has their Rotary Club Challenge Coin in their possession at the time of the challenge.
