Common methods to increase Rotary Club membership
- Invite friends, colleagues, or neighbors to participate in one of your club's projects.
- Talk with potential members about Rotary's humanitarian work, including programs like Polio Plus, Group Study Exchange, or ShelterBox projects. You will get an interesting reaction from them should you mention the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's involvement in the polio eradication effort and the Rotary Polio Challenge.
- Invite professional women in your community to one of your club meetings. Initiate projects that focus on women's issues, and invite prominent women in the community to participate, speak, or lead.
- Maintain contact with all local alumni of Rotary's educational and service programs, and organize events for them. These people not only have first hand experience with Rotary programs but can serve as a means for your Club members to learn more about the programs.
- To attract potential members consider advertising special programs or projects on social networking sites such as your Facebook Fan Page, LinkedIn, Craigslist, or Orkut, and invite visitors to your club meetings and events.
- Consider placing announcements for these special programs in you local newspaper as well as their on-line calendar of events.
- To target specific demographic groups or classifications consider sponsoring an open house (or an open meeting with a special guest) that caters directly to them.
- If you have a Club website make sure that the calendar of events is kept current. Periodically check to confirm that your list of Club projects and activities are current. Also confirm that it is easy to find how to get more information on your Club.

Setting up a Facebook Fan Page for your Rotary Club
The Facebook Fan Page is a place to house all the pertinent information about your Rotary Club. The Fan Page is very useful as it may include everything that relates to your rotary Club in one place with the advantage of easily sharing with a large built-in potential audience.
The Fan Page is very easy to update. Just as with your personal Facebook profile, updates are as easy as logging in and typing or uploading.
Once you have logged into Facebook, simply scroll down to the very bottom of the page and click on the word Advertising (located in the group of words to the right). The list of options in the column to the left will include the word Pages with a flag icon in front. Click on Pages. Near the top of the screen will appear a option to Create a Page. Select this option. For Category select the second radio button labeled Brand, Product, or Organization and in the box enter the Name of the Page (for example Rotary Club of XYZ). Then click on the Create Page button.
The more information you add about your Club the better. Google and other search engines thing highly of Facebook in the search results. The more information posted on the Fan Page Wall the easier you will be found in the search engines.

As an alternative to the traditional Rotary Club plaque, we offer a line of functional Rotary awards.
Pictured here are our tempered glass cutting boards which may be customized with your Club name and logo as well as the text of your choosing. Once we receive the desired text a proof set is created and returned to you for your review and approval. Only after you are approve is the cutting board made.
Our cutting board are available in sizes for both the bar and the kitchen. The image is permanently applied to the underside of the
cutting board. Chop away without affecting the image. The textured tempered glass surface resists stains, odors, and bacteria while rubber feet prevent slipping on the counter top or table. The boards are both dishwasher and microwave safe.

Promoting your Rotary Club on the Go
An easy way to achieve this is simply by wearing your Rotary pin. It is surprising what a conversation starter it is.
In your travels you can use your automobile as a means of showing your pride in your Club. Consider adding a front license plate with your Club name and the Rotary International or your Club's logo. An alternative is the use of either magnetic or cling style bumper stickers. The bumper stickers are available with your Club information or may be specifically made to promote your upcoming fund-raising activity. A third way to promote your Club with your car is with a vehicle flag with your Club name and logo. Check out our complete line of Rotary Automobile Items for some ideas.
Another popular means of promoting your Club is by wearing shirts embroidered with your Club name. We happen to offer a wide range of both casual and dress shirts in both mens and ladies cuts. There is a fabric and color to match everyone's taste. For some ideas please check out our Clothing Section. With our minimum ordering quantity of one, it is easy to mix and match styles to obtain the look you want.
While performing your next Community Service Project, consider wearing a Club T-Shirt. We offer two types of t-shirts. Both the traditional silk screening of cotton t-shirts as well as the sublimation of polyester t-shirts are available. The sublimation process results in a full color image that will not fade, crack, chip, peel or wash out of the t-shirt - the image will last as long as the t-shirt. In addition with sublimation you may choose a "performance" fabric - which wicks moisture away from the body keeping the wearer cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter months. More information on our T-Shirts may be found on our website - www.MyClubSupply.com

Introduction to using Facebook for your Rotary Club
Facebook encourages social connections with friends. Users can search for other users and ask to become friends. If the other person agrees then they are added to your friends list.
One of the keys to the social aspect is found on the user's home page in Facebook. Near the top of the page is a small box which asks the question "What's on your mind?" Anything you enter in this box is sent to all of your friends. Your message will appear on each of your friend's "Wall".
The "Wall" displays the most recent messages sent to the Facebook user. At least the first four lines of longer messages may be displayed. If the message is longer than can be displayed, the user is given the opportunity to view the rest of the message. As new messages are received they appear at the top of the wall.
Your "Wall" provides quick little snippets of what your friends are doing and gives you an easy means of commenting or adding to the dialog. The comments you post appear on all your friends walls. This is the power behind social media.
A quick example of the power of social media:
Facebook's rules of use discourage organizations and companies from having a Facebook account. Instead a special application has been developed within Facebook for the use of organizations and companies. This is know as the Fan Page. You can create a Fan Page for your Rotary Club and all your members may become Fans. The Fan Page offers many powerful options not available to the individual Facebook user.
